Blackheath Bush Fire Watch Group was formed in 2010 with the aim of preparing our village to resist bush fire impact. We have since formed a sub group of approximately 22 residents known as HUFF (Heads Up For Fire) Coordinators.  The role of these Coordinators is to:

  • disseminate fire and safety information to people in their area;
  • distribute bushfire survival plans to local residents and assist them to fill in if necessary;
  • be aware of residents in their area who may be more vulnerable in an emergency situation,  such as the aged or infirm.

The HUFF Logo was inspired by a local school student’s drawing. It depicts the threat of fire to our towns through the lenses of a pair of binoculars.
